Next... Christy moving beyond the massage room

Hello, as most of you know I retired from massage in July.  It was a very hard decision for me, massaging is a huge part of me, I love and miss it.  Sadly the recommendation came from my spinal surgeon and I had to do what was best for my overall health.  Most of my dear clients have been with me well over a decade.  Everyone was so kind and understanding but it was sad saying goodbye to being your therapist.  Thank you so much for all your support over years, you all have meant so much to me.  I also thank you for trusting me enough to continue to support the business I love and worked so hard to build.  It has been a transition for all of us.

Walking out of the massage room left me to wonder "who am I now and what do I do".   I would say I am running my business but I really always did.  I have gotten a chance to see most of you,  as I spent the first few months behind the desk.  I really enjoy helping all the clients and giving them excellent customer service.  This extra time has also allowed me to spend more time training staff and checking in on everything.

But what I really wanted to do was find a way to be a bigger part of my community and to support our neighbors.  I decided I could do more for Carpe Diem Massage being out in the community than being behind the desk.  I spent a lot of time thinking about how I was going to do this.   I decided to find a cause that I really believed in and get involved.  This lead me to talk to a friend, who is on Stadium District board of directors with me, she works for Mulicare.  At the time I had no idea what she did, turns out she was the exact person I needed to talk to, she is in charge of fund raising.  I wanted to give something to Mary Bridge to support our neighbors in crisis.  But I wanted to support a very focused group of children.  Those who suffer from the effects of childhood sexual abuse.  So I decided to do a fund raising event for Mary Bridge's Children's Abuse Intervention Department (CAID).  The reason this cause is very near and dear to my heart is because I was one of those kids.  I have always felt I came out stronger than most in my situation and I wanted to give back.  So this project is what I have be focusing my energy on.   We will be donation 40% of all massages given on November 18th and 19th directly to CAID.

This will be my first of many causes I want to give Carpe Diem Massages attention to.  This is the direction I am being lead.  I am very excited to be putting my energy into something so fulfilling and creating a spirt of giving and community at Carpe Diem Massage.

In closing, I want to thank each and every client who has ever been on my massage table, It was an honor and a please to take care of you.

Love,

Christy
